SaaS Concept Test
among Employees

1
The client
A leading global workforce management SaaS provider, supporting organisations with payroll, HR, and talent management software.
2
Objectives
To understand the appeal and likely take-up of several smartphone-based products among end user employees, in order to inform discussions with current and potential corporate customers and potentially (re)direct software development resources.
3
The research solution
A bespoke quantitative survey was designed, fielded to a mixed sample of fixed hours and shift workers from 1000+ employee companies across a range of industry sectors. A monadic concept test approach in which respondents evaluated one SaaS product on a series of key measures and with detailed open-ended feedback on motivating aspects and any potential improvements or missing elements.
4
Outcome
The results gave clear direction to the delighted client on which SaaS products should be focused on and guidance on the allocation of resources for NPD – a different direction than would have been taken had the research not been conducted. The study also highlighted a notable difference in appeal among males and females for some of the concepts tested, which had not been anticipated, but which could be acted upon with future targeting. The success of this study has motivated the client to discuss establishing a program of concept testing running in multiple markets with MAC Research.
